Update 2 September 2016: The Note 7 should have gone on sale today, but Samsung has had to stop sales and offer to replace handsets that are already with customers following an issue being found with its battery cells. According to an official statement from Samsung, “there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally and we are currently conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market. However, because our customers’ safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have stopped sales of the Galaxy Note 7.” A company statement on the Samsung Korea site appears to suggest this delay will push back the on sale date by a couple of weeks. If you’re prepared to wait, below we’ve rounded up some of the best Note 7 cases. A firm favourite at Tech Advisor, Tech21 makes some of our favourite tech accessories, most of them high quality cases. The Evo wallet is no exception, and does a surprisingly good job of keeping the phablet size of the Note 7 down to a minimum, while providing all-over protection. The front cover curls round and fixes nicely with a metallic magnetic strip. All ports and buttons are still usable and it’s available in black or pink. The Note 7 is one of the most attractive smartphones we’ve ever seen, so though while you’ll probably want something to stop the scratches, you might want to still see the design. Enter this case. Thin, clear, fits perfectly and under a tenner to boot. Griffin always delivers the goods when it comes to cases, and its Survivor cases are great. This, the Clear, is one of the most simple but is still able to save your Note 7 from drops of four feet.  As you might expect, it’s clear, so you can show off your new gadget in all its glory. This case from Patchworks lives up to the ‘flex’ part of the Flexguard in its name. The fact it isn’t rigid makes it easy to take on and off, and its hatch pattern helps absorb shocks if dropped.  Even though the Note7 is made in black, silver or blue, the case actually comes in Apple’s colours of black, gold, silver and rose gold. Go accessorise. Olixar always have cases ready for the launch of new devices, and this second one for the Note 7 carries on the trend. It’s a two-piece, full on case for those that don’t want to risk breaking their new toy.  The black plastic part has a stand in the back for hands free video viewing, while the coloured part is a rubberised inner case to hold the Note 7 snug and safe from bumps. You can always take the plastic part off, so it’s good value and basically two cases in one. It comes in black, blue, red or green. Caeology’s Wavelength series is here for the Galaxy Note 7, and we really like this coral pink version. The bumper and inner case are made of two separate pieces for added protection but still keep the bulk down so as not to turn the Note 7 into a huge brick.  All ports are accessible, and the pink colour paired with the gold trim this case will make your phone stand out from the crowd. Folios are handy given they can replace your wallet and carry your phone around. With the Note 7’s stylus capabilities enhacning the level of work and play you can get done, your folio case can basically house everything you need for the whole day. This Case-Mate folio would work well whether you’re on a night out or in a business meeting. If you like leather wallet style cases but don’t want to break the bank, this case is only £12.99 from i-Blason. You save a bit of cash because its synthetic leather, but you can hardly tell the difference. You can store cash and cards in it too, plus it folds into a stand with a coupe of viewing angles for videos. If you’ve opted for the Blue Coral Galaxy Note 7 this could be the case for you. Spigen are a reputable case maker, and this colour-matched thin case snaps on perfectly to the handset for simple, subtle protection.  Cut outs on the edges leave access to ports and buttons while barely adding bulk.
