Spotify has  confirmed that it did not acquire music dating company Tastebuds, which now appears to be defunct. The alleged feature would represent Spotify getting back into social music sharing, an aspect to its app that has been curiously absent. The ‘Friend Activity’ tab has been restricted to desktop for some time and is nowhere near as useful, fun or plain excellent as the app’s algorithmic playlists such as ‘Your Discover Weekly’. If you’re signed into Spotify, you can follow https://open.spotify.com/tastebuds to a non-working page that all but confirms Tastebuds. Given that Spotify hasn’t denied the feature, we expect to see it rolling out soon.
