A Way Out gameplay
Before we crack on with the details of A Way Out’s gameplay, it’s an unusual game for modern standards. It’s a co-op only arrangement so you have to play with another person, either in the same room on online – there is no single player campaign mode. EA says: “What begins as a thrilling escape quickly turns into an emotional adventure unlike anything seen & played before. A Way Out is a two-player experience. Each player controls one of the main characters, working together to escape the prison and continue beyond into each character’s lives.” Don’t worry about your friend having to own the game though, as friends can join in without having to own a copy of the game. It involves accessing a free pass trial, allowing access to the game without purchase.
Whether you play in person or over the internet, you’ll take on the role of Leo and Vincent, two convicted criminals who must break out of prison and run from authorities. Think of it a bit like the video game of Prison Break, although the characters are not brothers. The gameplay of each player isn’t synchronised so one may be in a cut scene while the other is playing. As you can gather, it’s critical that the two players plan and coordinate so one might distract a guard while the other finds a tool to help escape. A Way Out is being developed by Hazelight, built on the Unreal Engine and is the second game from Josef Fares who was behind Brothers – A Tale of Two Sons. EA promises “car chases, stealth passages, melee fights, shootouts and more.” And you can watch the below video to get an idea of what A Way Out gameplay is like.
